What is the best thing to do? After going thru 10 or 12 pages on "towing and hauling" there was little mentioned about using cruise control while towing a 23 ft end to end @ 5600lbs thru the Pacific Northwest and yes California too . Wife would do it while I was in the passenger seat in the Ridgeline, until I woke up heard the whine at 4600 rpm while climbing the Coquihalla highway in beautiful British-Columbia. It was our first trip climbing such a place with an underpowered vehicle. I gently express that it wasn't a good thing to do, was I wrong to tell her that? 33 years married, still learning... I guess is it also depending on conditions? So, ON or OFF!

Two more days before my truck is here! I have a wife, I wasn't afraid to use her (on purchase negotiations)

I do it. Been doing it for years.

I use it on flat to mostly flat ground but I've found that in hilly terrain it gets a bit annoying on the downhill side. It will fairly aggressively downshift to hold the set speed, as it should, but it doesn't know how long the decline is so sometimes it is better to let the truck roll down the hill freely.

I have used mine while towing & as Top mentioned above, towing down a mountain with cruise on is just whacky sometimes. A Canadian dealer told me NOT to use cruise while in Tow/Haul mode. I figure if they don't want both on at the same time, they should have disabled that feature...

If you could teach cruise control to decelerate on steep hills to match a speed comfortable with the engine's power. I would still say "no". Anything pulling a load will slow down on hills and maybe speed up going downhill.

Your foot is connected to your brain. Use them both. Nuts to that computer thing unless it's flat ground, a constant speed and you need to dig something out of a pants pocket.
